American Sample Archive, LLC (ASA) is a company that obtains raw biological materials from governmental and commercial sources, verifies their identity and quality and then archives them for future scientific uses. ASA uses a combination of cellular and molecular techniques to characterize and quantify these biological materials; including but not limited to, cell plating, nucleic acid extractions and real-time PCR using the QuantStudio 12K platform. Once characterized and quantified, ASA uses these biological materials to manufacture assay identification kits. These kits are subsequently used by companies within the biotechnology industry to develop new detection and diagnostic tests. The evaluation of test sensitivity and specificity is a vital part of any new assay development, including FDA submission of new diagnostic tests and DHS submissions for new environmental tests. If needed, ASA will also provide “off-site” archive storage facilities for companies that wish to safeguard their biological materials at a location off their own premises.
